DOTHAN, Ala (WTVY) Memphis Baptist Church has participated in the Operation Christmas Child shoe box program before. They have helped to prepare shoe boxes to send to overseas children.

But when they cut the ribbon on Monday morning, they were participating in the program in a different way.

For the first time ever, Memphis Baptist Church is one of four drop-off locations that people can leave their gift-filled shoe boxes.

The shoe boxes should be filled with a "wow" gift, hygiene products, and school supplies, then dropped off at one of the locations.

From there, the drop-off locations will pack the shoe boxes into larger cardboard boxes. Those cardboard boxes will be sent to the regional drop-off location in Atlanta.

Memphis Baptist Church is making sure the integrity of the boxes are not affected. They are accepting the shoe boxes and placing them straight in the larger cardboard boxes to go to the regional drop-off location.

Shoe boxes can be dropped off at any of the drop-off locations through Monday, November 25.

Mount Gilead Baptist Church, Harvest Church, and Heritage Baptist Church are the other three drop-off locations in Dothan.
