A Houston County jury has found a man charged with trying to kill several law enforcement officers guilty of less serious crimes.

19-year old Jaccarius Dawsey of Dothan exchanged shots with those officers who attempted to arrest him last January on unrelated charges.

After deliberating about six hours Thursday, jurors convicted Dawsey on three counts of Attempted Assault and two counts of Reckless Endangerment. He had been charged with five counts of Attempted Murder.

Dawsey, who will sentenced by Circuit Judge Larry Anderson next month, is already serving 12 years for assaulting federal marshals during the same incident that occurred on Third Avenue in Dothan.

Attorney Raynor Clifton represented Dawsey in the local trial.
