Man injured in train accident identified

MARIANNA, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - We now know the identity of the man who was involved in a train versus pedestrian accident in Jackson County.

Police said Thursday afternoon they responded to the area of Orange Street in Marianna. They say Gregory Brooks of Marianna was found under the stopped train. They say it looked like he was seriously hurt from contact with the train.

Marianna Fire and Rescue and Jackson County Fire and Rescue were at the scene within minutes. Police say they were able to get Brooks out from under the train.

Brooks was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital by helicopter. He is still in the staff's care, according to police.

Police say this is an ongoing investigation and more details will be released in the future.
