Man found not guilty of murdering his brother
A Houston County jury, Wednesday afternoon, found Matthew Forehand not guilty of murdering his brother.
He shot Andrew Forehand July 4, 2018 after an ongoing dispute.
Defense attorney Matt Lamere argued that shooting was an act of self-defense.
Andrew lived with his grandmother who, according to testimony, he often mistreated. A few days before he died, he stole her air conditioning unit, presumably to purchase illegal drugs.
A cousin testified she and other family members, including his brother Matthew Forehand, were fed up with Andrew’s behavior.
Then, things reached a boiling point. After an incident between the two brothers earlier in the day, there was another confrontation that night.
That’s when Matthew Forehand killed his brother in a bedroom of their grandmother’s house.
The jury deliberated two days before returning the not guilty verdict.
