Man accused of stealing from Dothan school nabbed on fugitive charge

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- A man facing numerous charges, some involving the theft of equipment from a school and an RV, has been arrested again. This time, 29-year old Tevin Michael Coffman faces a Fugitive from Justice charge.

Coffman, police say, has violated terms of his Florida probation, received after his convictions on charges that included burglary and grand theft involving the use of a firearm. Dothan police arrested him Monday,.

He also faces numerous charges in Houston County. Investigators claim Coffman, in April 2019, used a U-Haul van to steal more than $20,000 worth of equipment from Northside Methodist Academy.

In March 2020, officers arrested Coffman again, this time on charges he stole a recreational vehicle, guns, and other equipment from Gander RV and Outdoor in Dothan. Per reports, he had slept in that RV parked on Gander's lot for a few days.

When confronted by Gander's manager, Coffman drove the RV from the lot but officers captured him a few minutes later, according to investigators.

Coffman is awaiting trial on the Alabama charges.
