Kiwanis Club gets lesson in funding local classrooms
The Kiwanis Club of Dothan got the chance to learn more about how they can help achieve excellence in local classrooms.
The Dothan Education Foundation presented during the Kiwanis Club’s weekly meeting to discuss their newest grant opportunities.
Teachers and schools can apply for grants—up to $2,500 for teachers and $5,000 for schools—for anything from extra classroom supplies to funding for projects.
Through the grants, the DEF aims to help ease the burden of out-of-pocket expenses—something the Kiwanis Club can help fund.
“Organizations like this help us throughout the year to be able to get funds to be able to provide grants like those within the classroom," Dothan Education Foundation Executive Director Lindsey Fountain explained, "our education foundation is working on new initiatives and programming so we’re going to be talking a little bit about that and kind of ways they can become involved with the education foundation.”
