Sunday afternoon crews began a resurfacing project stretching from Ross Clark Circle to the Dale County line.

On Sunday, May 10, at approximately 4 p.m., weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation will begin a pavement preservation project on U.S. Highway 231 North from the Ross Clark Circle to the Dale County line.

The project will include micro milling, resurfacing, and traffic striping.

There will be lane closures throughout the project from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists are advised to plan accordingly for expected delays and be mindful of construction workers.

The project was awarded to Midsouth Paving, Inc., out of Birmingham, Ala., at approximately $2.2 million, who had the lowest bid that met project requirements. The project is expected to be complete Summer of 2020.

ALDOT’s mission is to provide a safe, efficient, environmentally sound transportation network across Alabama.
