Hundreds pack Dothan Civic Center for prayer breakfast
Hundreds packed the Dothan Civic Center Tuesday morning for the 20th Annual Community Wide Prayer Breakfast.
Event chairman Danny Sharp says it allows many to count their blessings.
“God has blessed Dothan-Houston County, Alabama, so we just want to take the time to give him thanks,” said Sharp.
For two decades now, the mission of this event has been to bring the community together through faith. The breakfast not only filling stomachs… but hearts, too.
Guest speaker Andy Phillips told stories of his days playing baseball for the New York Yankees. He also shared how his wife’s battle with cancer and losing a child changed his life.
“Obviously to come to a place like Dothan and an event like this – the 20th year – it’s real encouraging to see cities that have gatherings like this that want to bring the community together," said Phillips. "So for me to be a part of it, it’s a privilege.”
As for the future of the breakfast, organizers hope to make bigger and better for decades to come.
Close to 400 people attended Tuesday morning’s breakfast.
