How Secure Dothan PD Body Cameras Really Are

The FBI and U.S Department of Justice are taking over the investigation into Tuesday's fatal police shooting of a black man in Baton Rouge, LA.
There's cell phone video of the incident.
But the officer's body cameras were not able to capture the critical moment.
The camera's both officers were wearing fell off during the struggle, and were unable to capture the shooting.
Currently there are 14 officers with the Dothan Police Department testing out this very product: body cameras.
One officer who normally wears the camera, is John L. Chesser. He believes, this is a positive for the department. Officer Chesser tells news 4: “"We've had it for several months now. I’ve seen a lot of good things out of it. If I run in a foot pursuit (the body camera) turns on. If my lights are activated, (the body camera) comes on. So a lot of times you don't even have to think about it.”
Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish tells us that DPD will install new dashboard cameras as well as make some upgrades on the body cameras this coming Monday.
