DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- The Houston County commission is considering borrowing $6 million to jump-start road repairs.
The commission approved adding asphalt improvements to the worst 50 miles of county roads to Monday’s agenda.
The Rebuild Alabama gas tax funds that trickle in overtime would be used to repay the bond.
“We think our citizens want to see their money they're paying for taxes on gas be put to work immediately. Interest rates are at an all-time low. We just think it's a good time to do this and go to work immediately,” says Houston County commission chairman Mark Culver.
Approval would lead to faster repairs.
