Highlands students spread Christmas cheer through art

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Some students are taking their art skills out of the classroom and into the community.

More than 10 Highlands Elementary School students painted a holiday mural at Red Elephant, from Santa, to snowmen, reindeer and a Christmas tree.

The restaurant provided the painting supplies. Students as young as kindergarten through fifth grade painted the mural together to spread Christmas cheer.

"It’s really fun! Because you get to express yourself on the windows so people can see it,” said fifth grader Mary Selwyn Nichols.
