DOTHAN, AL. (WTVY) - 10 high school choirs took the Cultural Arts Stage Tuesday morning to compete in the National Peanut Festival's Choral Festival.
The festival was held at the Cultural Arts Center
More than 25 groups competed in show choir and choir competitions.
The festival has been taking place in Dothan for the last 40 years and students start preparing for this festival as soon as school begins.
Susan Brolund, Director of the Choral Festival, says "They get on stage and maybe they're nervous when they get there...but for a lot of them, this is their first experience to spend some time in front of a full audience. We have a 300 seat audience. It will be full and they get there...they have the jitters. When they go off stage, they are laughing and saying, "We did it! We did it!"
Brolund says the number of competitors in this years' festival were a little lower than usual due to Hurricane Michael and the effect it had on some schools.
