DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- The weather has been helping and hindering the progress of the new public safety center.

The lack of rain has allowed construction crews to lay some of the outside concrete over the last few weeks.

Most of the buildings are complete, but training props still need to be added.

The hot temperatures are slowing that process down as crews make adjustments to deal with the heat.
"What we're trying to do is make sure that they take proper precautions as far as staying in the shade as much as they can, staying properly hydrated just so that they take care of their health," says Randy Morris the City of Dothan’s general service director.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of October.
