Hearing for Houston County teacher accused of misusing school funds

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WTVY) - Laurie McWaters, the Student Government Advisor at Ashford High School appeared before the
Houston County School Board for the first time since allegations began that she used an off campus account assigned to the organization for personal use.

The hearing started at 5 o’clock and has included testimony from the chief financial officer Kerry Bedsole and Superindent David Sewell.

The hearing will determine whether Mrs. McWaters should be terminated or not.

Dozens of people including students attended the hearing in support of McWaters.
Trace Watson, a freshman at Ashford High School, says “They are great people, they've always been great to me and I don’t think Mrs. McWaters should be terminated."

The hearing is still ongoing and we will update when we learn more,
