DOTHAN, AL. (WTVY) - A wax museum…now that's something you don't see every day!
Heard Magnet School fourth graders are bringing wax figures...to life.
It starts with a red button.
Students dress up and present a short presentation on which they chose to study for Black History Month.
The students were in control of their own learning, choosing local people to learn about.
Jeaneva Mitchell, fourth grade teacher at Heard Magnet School, says "We are often reminded of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Frederick Douglas, Rosa Parks...it's important to teach our children about our history so we don't forget. Often times we're so locked down into our standards and trying to teach our standards, we forget about the little things that matter."
Heard Magnet fourth graders presented their information to the entire school as well as their parents.
