Headland Police and Fire respond to house fire

HEADLAND, Ala. (WTVY) - Headland Police and Fire responded to a fire on 709 Main Street in Headland Monday night.

Police say they got a call at 7:46 p.m. that a house was engulfed by flames.

They say a man was cooking when the fire started in the kitchen.

He was able to escape the house with only minor burns, but his pet did not survive.

Authorities had the road shut down for several hours while they assessed the scene.

The Kinsey Fire Department also responded to the scene.
