DOTHAN, AL (WTVY) The 18th annual Hardee's Pro Tennis Classic kicked off Sunday afternoon.
The qualifying rounds were held at Westgate Park Tennis Complex with some 20 games taking place for the singles' bracket.
It's one of the larger tournaments in the United States with 60 women competing with $80,000 in prize money up for grabs.
Tournament Coordinator Angelia Turner says it's great to have this level of tennis players in the Wiregrass.
She said, ""This is the highest level we've ever been in the purse as far as the $80,000, so we're very proud to be a part of that and for 18 years to have been consistently producing professional tennis in Dothan."
The Pro Tennis Classic will run through April 22nd at the Westgate Park Tennis Complex.
