DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Tuesday evening, a dozen students at Grandview Elementary got to showcase some important skills they've learned this semester.

As a part of a new initiative called, "The Etiquette Series" the 5th graders learned a variety of social and emotional skills.. including communication, trust-building, decision making, self esteem, self-awareness and fine dining etiquette.

They showed off their new skills at their etiquette dinner with their parents in "white cloth restaurant" style.

Their student-counselor, who created the series, says she hopes these skills will stick with them throughout their lives.

Nakita Patrick Thomas, Student-School Counselor says, "I hope that they take this on as a lifestyle, you know, um they are young but it is important to have good etiquette so they can have good interview skills, get career ready.. its just important for them to know these things when they get older."
