Geneva County girl waiting for heart transplant

HARTFORD, Ala (WTVY)-- 10 year-old, Rylann Day is just like any other girl her age. she loves to sing, and spend time with her friends and younger sister.

In mid-August, Rylann found out she had fluid in her lungs and an enlarged heart, and doctors told her parents she needed a heart transplant.

Rylann's mother, Jessica Day tells us, "Oh, it's been a very emotional, and very tear-jerking battle,...and it's been very emotional."

But Rylann hasn't let her situation get to her; take it from her father, Greg.

He says, "She's actually been stronger than we have, truthfully. She's, I don't know how to put it into words. Really, she's been real strong."

And Rylann has received support far and wide, from her classmates at school, to people reaching out from as far away as Texas and Rhode Island.

Through it all, she keeps two words in mind and close to her heart: Humble and Kind.

Her mother Jessica said with tears in her eyes, "It's her phrase that she's kept to, it says a lot. She's pushed all of her fears away."

Rylann is on a waiting list for a heart transplant. Her parent hope she is next in line, soon.
