JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) A former high school principal has turned himself in after alleged inappropriate contact with a student.

Jackson County Sheriff's Deputies say in early December they were told about a local principal having an inappropriate relationship with a student. They say they found Kenyonis "Ken" Granger, 35, had been inappropriate with a 16 year-old student. Investigators say Granger, who is the former principal of Cottondale High School, had been messaging the student since she was 14, but it only became inappropriate a year ago.

They say they were able to get copies of the messages and spoke with students. The Jackson County School Board confronted Granger about his actions and he resigned from his position.

Investigators say Granger solicit or engage in sexual conduct with a student. He was charged Thursday and an arrest warrant was issued. They say Granger turned himself in around 10:30 Thursday night.
