CRESTVIEW, Fla. (WJHG) -- Crestview police say they arrested three people and charged them with murder on Tuesday night.

Police say at 9:04 p.m. on Tuesday an officer arrived at the Hilton Motel on West James Lee Boulevard for an unrelated call when he saw a suspicious person running from a room.

Police say the man was covering his face and jumped into a car that sped off. The officer said he tried to pull the car over when it drove off.

The officer said he followed the car to North Okaloosa Medical Center where he discovered one of the passengers had been shot.

The officer said the injured person was quickly admitted to the emergency room but later died from his injuries. Police identified the man as Jakeith Edwards, 25, of Enterprise, Alabama.

The other people in the car were detained for questioning.

Police said they requested help to secure a possible crime scene at the motel from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say when they arrived they found a room with the door open and a dead man with a gunshot wound was found inside. The man was identified as Kaylun Gray, 19, of Elba, Alabama.

Police said during the investigation, they determined the incident happened because of a staged robbery. Police say Gray’s girlfriend, Jasmine Williams, 20, of Crestview, asked three friends to target her boyfriend in a staged robbery at the Hilton Motel.

Police said when the three friends arrived at the hotel room, Gray and Edwards exchanged gunfire. Both Gray and Edwards died from their injuries.

Police arrested Gray's girlfriend Jasmine Williams, Eric Dorsey, 24, of Andalusia, Alabama, and Tykira Deandrade, 23, of Andalusia, Alabama and charged them with murder and robbery with a firearm.

Deandrade was also charged with accessory after the fact while in commission of a capital felony. All three were transported to the Okaloosa County Jail.
