Financial literacy workshop teaches teens how to make money moves

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Money management is something many adults have on their minds all the time, but thanks to a financial literacy workshop at the G.W. Carver Museum, a group of Dothan teens got a lesson on counting their coins.

Desmond Douglas of Edward Jones Investments spoke to the teenagers all about how to develop smart money habits.

He also discussed the importance of investing and making your money work for you.

"I was excited about speaking to kids at this age, because they're old enough to understand, they know what money is and they like to spend it, but it's important that they know now, before you even graduated,” said Douglas. “First of all, making sure you graduate, and not only doing that, but putting yourself in the best position possible."

Douglas is used to talking to older crowds about wealth management, but says it's never too early start learning how to be responsible.
