MARIANNA, Fla. (WTVY) -- Thursday morning was an eventful morning for the North Florida Inland Long-Term Recovery Group. The group was made to stay organized through the recovery efforts after Hurricane Michael.
The group had their monthly meeting as they do every third Thursday of every month. November's meeting included discussions on successes and challenges in the more than a year following Hurricane Michael. The biggest challenge outlined was the lack of resources, primarily including building supplies.
The group got a boost toward conquering that challenge by being awarded a $225,000 grant from the Community Foundation of North Florida. North Florida Inland Long-Term Recovery Group split the grant among other groups connecting to the recovery group. The grant will be used primarily for housing needs, including repairing and rebuilding.
The road to recovery in Marianna has been a long one. There's still more left to go, but progress continues across the Florida panhandle.
