Eight-year-old girl injured in shooting in Florida Panhandle
An eight-year-old girl is in the hospital after a shooting incident in Jackson County.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said they got a call on Sunday night that a girl had been shot off Highway 73 near the county line.
Deputies said it looks like the victim was shot due to a negligent discharge.
The girl was life-flighted to a nearby hospital and later taken to Pensacola. She is in stable condition, but is still undergoing treatment.
According to deputies, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
