EARLY COUNTY, Ga. (WTVY) - Voters in Early County headed to the polls Tuesday.
Blakely District 1 City Commissioner Al Hutchins will keep his seat. Hutchins defeated Arthur Wimbush with 73 percent of the vote.
In the District 2 Blakely City Council race, incumbent Charles Middleton defeated Travis Wimbush. Middleton had 67 percent of the vote. There was some controversy with this race when Wimbush offered gift cards to certain early voters in a Facebook post. The Georgia Secretary of State's office is investigating the matter.
There will be a run off in Arlington's mayoral election. Raymond Williams will face Jerome Brackins on December 5th. Williams received 37 percent of the vote, and Brackins received 33 percent of the vote. Current mayor Marvin King received 30 percent of the vote.
Leonard Davis will be the new post 2 council member for Arlington. Davis defeated Kenneth Sizemore with 58 percent of the vote.
Arlington post 4 councilmember Betty Murdock was defeated by Deidre Evans-Severson. Evans-Severson received 53 percent of the vote to Murdock’s 47 percent.
Elgunnita Moore will be the new post 6 council member for Arlington. Moore defeated John Hatcher with 59 percent of the vote.
Arlington residents also voted to approve package sales. The measure passed by 65 percent.
