Dothan police department is supporting one officer by hosting a fundraiser to help his family.

DOTHAN Ala.(WTVY)- A Dothan police officer is recovering after collapsing on duty.

Fellow officers and friends are supporting Lieutenant Will Glover and his family as he continues to recuperate.

Glover suffered a brain aneurysm nearly a month ago and spent several weeks in intensive care.

He’s still in the hospital and the Dothan Police Department is sponsoring a fundraiser to help him cover his doctor bills.

Dothan Police Investigator Terry Nelson said, “Lieutenant Glover has been a part of this department for 20 years and a part of this community. He gave a lot of to this community and it's time to repay him for his services as well."

The 5K run and a polar plunge are set for this weekend at Westgate Trail starting at 9 am and the polar plunge follows at 10 am.

Door prizes will also be given away during the event.
