A deadly shooting will go to a grand jury even though Dothan investigators believe it was an act of self-defense.

24-year old Jay Greene Hollis died on the lawn of a Meadow Court home after an argument with a man who lives there.

According to Dothan police Hollis lived in the home briefly and came back Thursday night which led to the dispute.

Police say Hollis was pulled a gun and threatened the resident who shot hollis with a 12-guage shotgun.

Alabama law states “ a person is justified in using physical force upon another person in order to defend himself or herself or a third person from what he or she reasonably believes to be the use or imminent use of unlawful physical force by that other person.”

WTVY has found out the identity of the shooter, but have chosen not to name him, because he does not face charges.
