The main branch of the Dothan Houston County Library System has been closed since Wednesday following an electrical fire.

There was no significant structural damage and the team was able to safely evacuate.

It did impact the building's main lighting system.

Electricians are working to repair the issue and the library plans to be back open Friday as scheduled.

There is good news if you were not able to drop your books off due to the closure.

"Please don't worry about your fines for the time our facility was closed yesterday and today. The system will be waiving those fines that accrued due within that time period," says DHCLS Library Director Cynthia Plesner.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
