During a tour of Wallace Community College of Dothan, Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth expressed how impressed he was with the facilities.

Ainsworth stressed that workforce development, especially throughout community colleges, is crucial to making sure an area has adequate skilled workers.

The Lt. governor also spoke to the school on how he plans on strengthening workforce development in community colleges.

An app is in the works that will connect 8th and 9th graders early-on with career opportunities.

"What we’ve found looking at data is that students don’t understand the opportunities out there and they don’t understand how to get there," explained Ainsworth, "what the app is going to do is first educate them about the opportunities out there, and then second, how do they get there, which is important, and community colleges are going to play an important role in that.”

Ainsworth says he plans on pushing several workforce development issues, including adequate funding for community colleges, in the upcoming legislative session.
