DOTAN Ala. (WTVY)- Growing out your beard and rising money for a good cause has something in common.

The Dothan Police Department is participating in a hair-raising fundraiser to coincide with "no shave November,"

The thirty day campaign allows the male officers to grow their facial hair and the female's to paint their nails, something they're typically not allowed to do. All of the proceeds benefit Children's of Alabama.
By the end of the month the community can vote for their favorite on the DPD's Facebook page.

"That type of money, especially for this type of cause it's a win win for everybody. The officers have a great time growing their beards out for thirty days, and obviously the children are reaping the benefits as well." Said Captain Todd David
So far they have raised around $6.000 their goal is $25,000 dollars.
