Dothan City Schools opens new position and fills an old one

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - The name of the new principal at Beverley Intermediate School was announced at this morning's special called meeting of the Dothan City School board.

James Williams will be taking over as principal for the next school year.

Schools Superintendent Dr. Phyllis Edwards says with the addition of Williams all principal positions have been filled.

The board also approved the superintendent's plan to search for a new career tech director.

Edwards has applied for a grant from the Wiregrass Foundation, to pay for the position.

The position we are still waiting to hear about, is the basketball coach for the new high school.

"We have interviewed. We had a team interview. It was a committee, so we had some parents on it,” said Edwards. “I don't have an answer for you yet. They just turned in their results. I'm now going to get involved just like I did with the choosing of the football coach."

The school board is also looking for Spanish teachers, to start a foreign language program at the elementary schools.

Anyone interested can contact Dothan City Schools.
