Six additional classrooms are planned for Dothan Preparatory Academy where the enclosed canteen stands.
That means there will also be a new route to the kitchen and loading dock.
To address ADA accessibility at all three multi-floor schools, elevators and lifts will be added.
One of the schools, The Carver School for Math, Science, and Technology will have an architectural piece added since the new elevator will be added to the front of the building.
"This will give them the independence they deserve so that they can now travel between their classrooms and to their different elective buildings and so forth on their own and I know that will make them feel a sense of pride,” says DCS capital improvement manager Jeff Prine.
Bids for the new projects are scheduled to come in the week of October 1st.
Work will start early November and should be completed by the start of the 2020-2021 school year.
