Deputy struck when suspect flees traffic stop

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- A Houston County deputy was hit by a fleeing suspect on Thursday.

According to investigators, deputies pulled over Bobby Stanley Jr. of Dothan, for a traffic stop Thursday night. Shortly after giving his identification they say Stanley put the vehicle in drive and tried to flee.

The vehicle hit a deputy and caused him to fire his weapon.
After a pursuit through the Ford County area, Stanley crashed in the 1600 block of Galaxie Drive.

Stanley was arrested and charged with drug trafficking, 2 counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, fleeing or attempting to elude, and assault 2nd degree.
