A Delta Connection jet bound for Atlanta returned to Dothan and made an emergency landing shortly after takeoff early Wednesday. The plane landed safely.

A worker at the Dothan airport told WTVY that a landing gear issue forced the CRJ aircraft to return, but Delta has not confirmed the issue.

47 passengers and crew deplaned.

The next Delta Connection flight out of Dothan is scheduled later Wednesday morning and two additional flights in the afternoon.

The Delta website shows the aborted flight has been delayed indefinitely.

(This story updated to reflect next flight out on Wednesday).

Delta Connection is operated by Skywest.
