Dale County Schools growing; Newton Elementary expanding

NEWTON, Ala. (WTVY) -- Newton Elementary School is another school within Dale County's School system getting improvements

They will be building two classrooms for the school.

Enrollment has gone from 199 students to 277 in the last 5 years.

Principal Patrick Reed credits the growth to the 91 and 92 they received on their school report cards in the past year.

"Hopefully that continues,” Newton Elementary School Principal Patrick Reed said. “That's a good problem to have and I feel that it will with our teachers that we have and the progress we're making academically is showing through to the public."

The school system is also expanding the lunchroom at Ariton Schools and making improvements to Warrior Stadium at Dale County High School.
