Crash takes the life of Abbeville woman

ABBEVILLE, Ala. (WTVY) -- A crash Friday afternoon has taken the life of an Abbeville woman.

It happened on Alabama 27, near Alabama 173 in Henry County.

Authorities say 88 year old Betty Dunnie Mitchell was killed when the car she was a passenger in collided with another car.

Mitchell was taken to a local hospital, but passed away.

DOTHAN POST – A two-vehicle crash at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May. 17, has claimed the life of an Abbeville woman. Betty Dunnie Mitchell, 88, was killed after the 1999 Dodge Intrepid she was a passenger in, collided with a 2019 Toyota Corolla driven by Shirley Crosby, 62, of Columbus, Georgia. Mitchell was transported to a local hospital, but later died as a result of her injuries. The crash occurred on Alabama 27 near Alabama 173 in Henry County. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
