ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) — Cool off from the sweltering heat of a Southern summer Saturday morning with a refreshing cup of ice cream from the Enterprise Farmers Market Saturday morning.
On July 21, Ice Cream Day at the Farmers Market will be celebrated in tribute to National Ice Cream Day on July 15, and National Ice Cream Month, celebrated all month long.
A number of Farmers Market produce and arts and crafts vendors will be showing off their own homemade ice cream recipes and will be serving up the delicious summer staple in a variety of flavors. Visitors to the market can be expected to be able to purchase flavors ranging from regular vanilla to Blueberry, Peach and Orange Passion.
“This is the first time we’ve attempted to make and serve homemade ice cream at the market, but our vendors are so good at everything they do when it comes to food, I am confident we are going to be in for a real treat!” said Kay Kirkland, Special Projects coordinator for the city.
“Please come out and join us, taste the ice cream and then vote for your favorite flavor. Each vendor will have a voting box at their booth,” Kirkland said. “At the end of the morning, we will crown the first-ever Enterprise Farmers Market Ice Cream King or Queen! Won’t that be fun?”
The Market opens at 7 a.m. Saturday with fresh produce and arts and crafts items. The ice cream serving will begin about 9 a.m. and will continue throughout the morning until the ice cream is gone.
