ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) -- For nearly 25 years, the Coffee County Family Services Center has helped families of all kinds with anything they could possibly need.
One of their big programs is their "Backpack Blessings and Back to School Bash," where they provide school supplies, backpacks, and school clothes for students in need. The program has largely been driven through donations.
They got a little bit of help with that program in the form of a $25,000 grant, courtesy of State Farm. State Farm opened up the grant opportunity by allowing 2,000 cause submissions. From there, the State Farm Review Committee selected 200 finalists. Then it was all up to the public. The top 40 cause submissions, as voted on my the public, were each awarded a $25,000 grant.
Coffee County Family Services Center was one of those 40 causes.
Executive director Judy Crowley tells us they plan on using the grant to buy school supplies, backpacks, and school clothes for children in Coffee County. They're hoping the program will help those kids know that they are well-equipped to succeed in the following school year.
