As several lines of thunderstorms have tracked across the region throughout the day, the City has accumulated between 3.5 and 5 inches of rain based on location. This amount of rainfall has created localized flooding on our roadways. According to Charles Metzger, Public Works Director, “Our ditches and storm drains will take time to catch up with the amount of rain that we have experienced today”. Metzger continues, “We are not able to place barricades on all roadways that currently have water across them, therefore motorists should exercise extreme caution and limit travel until the rain subsides”.

Fire Chief Larry Williams reminds citizens, “Do not cross roadways that are covered by water”. As rain continues, City Officials are monitoring all resources and responding to the needs of our citizens. Williams concludes, “When faced with water over a roadway, Turn Around; Don’t Drown”.
