DOTHAN, AL (WTVY) -- The Highway 84 East Corridor is about to get a little brighter.
City Commissioners approved a significant light project at Tuesday morning's meeting.
The lights will stretch from Southeast Health on Ross Clark Circle to the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba says the matter has been up for discussion for years, but it's the school's shared trail that brought the idea back.
Mayor Saliba told us, "It's very important, especially as we are trying to get those to consider pedestrian modes of transportation, biking and walking and getting back and forth from the downtown area and the hospital, and the offices that are surrounding it."
Mayor Saliba also says now that the plan is approved, they will open up bidding for the project.
