Officials with the Florida Forest Service say due to the drier weather firefighters in the Chipola Forestry Center have seen 16 wildfires, five illegal burns, nine smoke complaints among other incidents.

As of Sunday afternoon:

They say the Basswood Road fire in Gulf County is 70% contained and around 160 acres.

They say the Mussett Bayou fire in Walton County is 85% contained at 343 acres. Officials say the fire was started by an illegal material burn and 34 homes were destroyed as a result.

The Glendale Road fire in Washington County is 100% contained at 125 acres according to officials. They do not have a cause for the fire at this time.

They say Washington and Holmes Counties have enacted burn bans and the Forest Service is halting burn authorizations in Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Walton, and Washington Counties until weather conditions improve.
