DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) — The Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center is gearing up for their Blue Ribbon Campaign!
For 25 years, each April during National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Child Advocacy Center coordinates a community wide Blue Ribbon Campaign to raise awareness against child abuse and to generate support for programs and services to help victims in the Wiregrass.
The Blue Ribbon Campaign kicks off the 25 Years of Hope and they want to turn the city Blue by selling blue ribbon t-shirts, turning the lights blue on Foster Street, then on April 5th, they'll be showcasing a tree with 526 blue ribbons that represents the total number of children who walked through the CAC's doors in 2018 due to child abuse or neglect.
Development Advocate Meagan Dorsey says she is looking forward to the community's support to help these children.
Dorsey continues, "I'm really excited to be here at the CAC and see the amazing volunteers, the businesses, the supporters, that come through our doors and support us out in the community. Because there is a need for protecting our children and so the CAC does a fantastic job of doing that so I am very excited to see how the community continues to support the work we do.."
The blue ribbon t-shirt's can be purchased through the CAC Facebook page: $20 for adults, $10 for children and $15 for a baseball cap.
The CAC will also have a Kid's Zone at April's Foster Fest in Dothan Downtown.
