DOTHAN, AL. (WTVY) - Top cadets were selected and honored Wednesday morning at the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce.
Five local JROTC recipients received leadership awards based on their dedication to the program as well as being an exemplary role model to the younger cadets.
The schools represented were Carroll, Rehobeth, Dothan, Daleville, and Northview High Schools.
"What got me interested in the military is probably my family and the whole motto about how the military is hard working and how they get the job done," said Carroll High School Cadet Nathan Nelson. "I'm kind of sure on this path because of all the benefits that come with it. There would be a nice benefit to life and all the respect that comes with being in the military."
Each of the cadets gave a speech on their current plan for the rest of the high school careers and future admittance into the military.
The next Military Affairs meeting will be May 8th when Memorial Day activities will be discussed.
