Business booming after Dothan chef competes on Top Chef

DOTHAN, Al. (WTVY) - Kelsey's success on every episode of Top chef isn't only helping KBC. Downtown Dothan businesses are also seeing a profit.

Kelsey has been an advocate for Dothan’s animal shelters for some time now. So tonight she wanted to put an even greater focus on the need by having adoption opportunities available.

Kelsey Barnard Clark volunteers at the wiregrass animal shelter. Before taking part in bravo's top chef, Clark held special events at KBC to raise awareness for Dothan’s two animal shelters.

Since competing on the show - she's used her weekly viewing parties to continue her support. Tonight's monetary donations will be going towards keeping dogs and cats healthy.

Also celebrating Dothan’s own chef is Odonata, a woman’s clothing boutique. The boutique stayed open late just for this block party.

"It’s been very exciting to be a part of it. Downtown has come alive it's obviously with all of the success Kelsey has had has helped too. We've had people from all over town," said Christy Byrd.

While businesses were celebrating the success of Clark, others were just coming out to enjoy the evening for one of their own by enjoying games, live music and great food.

"We have really come up since I’ve been in Dothan, there's a lot more different foods in the area Dothan has a lot of restaurants and we are always looking for something new, Kelsey adds that," said Debbie Moon, CB’s Kettle Corn.

Hundreds filling the street tonight all to say -

"Go girl, we are so proud of her,” said Janna Holland, Blue Moon Cafe Owner.
