Dothan- A Dothan woman allegedly kidnapped was rescued by police unharmed thanks to a cell phone and bra.
Arrest records show Shynethia Shauntas Donaldson, 22, of Clayton Street abducted the alleged female victim from a Catalpa Street home Tuesday. A gun was used in the abduction, according to a police report.
“The victim alerted police by dialing 9-1-1 and placing the cell phone inside of her bra,” said Sgt. Jason Adkins, a violent crimes investigator with the Dothan Police Department. He said communication specialists (dispatchers) were able to hear the woman talking to her alleged kidnapper while the abductor had no idea the call had been made.
“After listening for about 15 minutes the dispatchers were able to determine the two women were on South Appletree Street. Our patrol units were dispatched to the area and able to recover the victim without incident,” Adkins said. Donaldson was charged with first degree kidnapping.
Police say the two women were acquainted and involved in earlier dispute.
Adkins commended dispatchers for their part in resolving the situation.
