DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- Murphy Family Restaurants set a goal to raise $12,000 for the Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham.
If you bought your National Peanut Festival mega pass from a McDonald’s you helped make that happened.
For every mega pass purchased at one of the McDonald’s stores, $1 was donated to the organization.
Only 11,914 mega passes were sold but the National Peanut Festival donated the other $87.
The donation will ease one burden families with ill children have.
"There are so many families in the Wiregrass area that need a place to stay for free when their child is sick in the hospital. That gives people home away from home and that's what we do at Murphy Family Restaurants is just help take care of our community," says Murphy Family Restaurants' director of marketing Eddie Byrd.
Murphy Family Restaurants says it will do the same thing next year with a bigger goal
