A judge Wednesday reduced bond for a Dothan man awaiting trial on a murder charge. Houston County Circuit Judge Mike Conaway cut Brandon Ransom’s from a half million dollars to $125,000.
Ransom is charged with fatally shooting acquaintance Christopher Bailey July 30 in a parking lot near Piggly Wiggly and Plum’s Lounge along Montgomery Highway. Bailey was 26.
Defense attorney Jim Parkman told Conaway that Ramson has strong ties to the community and no previous criminal history.
Co-counsel John Steensland previously described Ransom as a disabled military veteran who suffers from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Ransom is 30.
He is expected to post bond in the next day or two. A trial date has not been set.
