The body of former WWE wrestler Shad Gaspard has been found on a California beach early Wednesday morning. Gaspard was caught in a rip current at Los Angeles' Venice Beach where he was swimming with his son.
Officers made the discovery at around 1:30 a.m. Gaspard went missing last Sunday after he went swimming with his 10-year-old son, Aryeh. He was rescued by lifeguards along with several others.
Gaspard was last seen about 50 yards from shore before a wave crashed over him and swept him out to sea.
His wife, Silana Gaspard, issued a statement Tuesday thanking authorities and fans of Shad.
Gaspard gained initial fame while wrestling in WWE as one half of the tag team "Cryme Tyme" with fellow wrestler JTG.
Gaspard retired from WWE in 2010 and began an acting career with small roles on TV and film including in 2015 film "Get Hard."
Shad Gaspard was 39 years old.
