Police in Early County got the call at 9:25 a.m. Wednesday morning.

"Some local fisherman had put in here at the Gordon boat ramp…when they saw what was thought a body," said Will Coudill, Chief Investigator at Early County Sheriff's Office.

A body was found floating face-down at the Gordon boat landing off of Highway 84, on 95 North.

The body has been identified by family members as Gerald Hood Love, a Houston County resident.

Love it's reported would fish at the Chattahoochee River (off Boat Landing Road) quite often. His black pick up truck was at the scene and said to have been there throughout the night.

"It's my understanding that he came down here and fished a good bit,"

exclaimed Coudill.

The cause of death is not yet known, but investigators do not suspect foul play.

Early County and Houston County law enforcement are working together on the case, which is ongoing. Since he was found in the water, it is Georgia's territory. Houston County was on the scene because when the fisherman called they were connected to Houston County's 911 center.

Love's body has been sent to the Georgia Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

Love is a former Director of the Southeast Alabama Youth Services Diversion Center.
