Aunt Katie's Community Garden is expanding

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - The Aunt Katie's Community Garden in Dothan is expanding.

The Garden has been providing fresh produce (fruits, vegetables, honey, sugar cane, potatoes, beans, etc) for the Wiregrass since 2010 and is in need of a building to take them to the next level.

They are starting to build a Nutrition-Education Center but need community support to finish it.

The purpose of the building is to provide a space for nutrition education with things like cooking demonstrations, as well as holding community events and gatherings when needed.

"The garden is a place where we teach, entertain and inspire the community that we live in to live longer, healthier lives. I believe that nationally it is determined that our children will actually live shorter lives than we have. And the only way to turn back that trend.. is with projects like this." -- Michael Jackson, Executive Director

If you would like to volunteer with the garden, purchase a space or donate for the expansion, you can contact Mr. Michael Jackson at 334-648-4496.
